The following is how I personally feel about each spell, what I know is wrong with it (bugged or not) and an idea or two on how to improve said spell, if needed. I am also doing this so that other classes can see and understand how and what a wizard currently is, by looking in detail at their tools at their disposal.</font><font color="#00cc66"></font></p><p><font color="#00cc66">I’m starting with the spells name, followed by the level of the spell, power used to cast and my input on the spell. The raw data itself was taken right out of my spellbook in game, as I found, more often then not, that the information listed at eq2players is wrong when talking about a spells power usage; as such I will also be listing the current level I have the spell scribed at (app1 through 4, adept 2 or 3, or master1).</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#99ffcc"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Chilling Wind</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> </font></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00">–</font></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> Level 20 – AoE DoT – Power 132 (app2) – Casting Time of 3, Recast 20 –</font> AoE Nukes for 33-41 damage, then AoE DoTs for 28-34 every 4 seconds for 36 seconds. Also decreases mitigation of target group for 432 heal and cold. – This spells seems to be right on target, though the power costs seem a bit high.</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Breath of the Tyrant</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 21 </font></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00">–</font></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> Nuke – Power 63 (adept1) – Casting Time of 2, Recast 4 – </font>Instant Damage of 164-274 – This spells dose pretty much the same damage as Ice Spike but with a longer recast time, though for it’s level it is nice to toggle between the two. Lowering the recast time to match Ice Spike would bring it inline and would make a nice pair of spells</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Lightning Flash</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 22 – AoE – Power 120 (adept1) – Casting Time of 3, Recast 12 –</font> AoE Nuke for 84-103 instant damage, and will tick once more for another 27-33 damage. The power costs are a smidge high, but the big downside is the recast time of 12. It use to be a recast of 4, which was a big fast, but a recast of 6 would be nice and give meaning to the spell again.</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Ball of Fire</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 23 – Nuke – Power 125 (adept1) – Casting Time of 3, Recast 12 – </font>Instant damage of 405-607 – Our first big nuke. Not bad really but it would be nice to have a bit of a lower power cost, say 25% less, maybe even 30%. The recast time is also a big high, 12 seconds is a long time for a main nuke. If the power was kept high, but the recast time lower, that would also work.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><b><i></i></b></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"><b><font color="#ccffff">Snow-filled Steps</font></b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 23.6 – Group Buff – Power 59 – 12hr buff –</font> See Invisible level 61, increase group mitigation 104 for heat and cold – This spells also seems pretty good, but besides other players, I have never seen an invisible mob, pardon the pun.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><span></span></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"><span></span></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Amplification</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 24 – Group Buff – Power 0 (adept1) – 12hr buff –</font> Increases power by 145 for all members and also grants 2 to Crushing, Piercing, Slashing, Ranged, Disruption, Subjugation skills. Grants 331 heat and cold mitigation – This spells seems to be fine.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#66cc00"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Boreal</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font></font></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00">–</font></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> Level 25 – Single Target Mez – Single Target Mez – power 43 (adept1) – Casting Time of 1, Recast 30 –</font> Mez’s a Single Target in place but also Stuns the Caster, Prevents AoEs on target, Effects up to level 50 non-Epic target, total duration is 20.4 seconds – This spell is highly resisted even with max skill. By high I mean more then 40% of the time, and more so the higher the target is, or if the target is heroic. The big downside is that this spell also stuns the caster, but if the target is attacked (or breaks free) the caster is still stunned. The way around this is the cancel the effect on the maintained list. There is a few ways to make this spell more effective. One way is for it to not stun the caster but have a shorter duration. The simplest would be for it to be less resisted, and have the recast timer cycle back up before the duration of the effect has ended.</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#66cc00"><b><font color="#ccffff">Dazzling Seal</font> </b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00">– Level 25.6 – Group Buff – Power 0 (adept1) – 12hr buff –</font> Increases Str by 17 and Int by 34, and increases heat mitigation by 347 – This spell seems to be working well.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Flametongue</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 26 – Single Target buff – Power 64 (app1) –</font> 5 percent weapon proc, deals 46-57, or dose a small DoT of 46-57 every 5.3 second (I don’t know the duration), and increases the targets mitigation vs heat for 78, total proc duration chance is 15 minutes – This spells seems ok for what it’s meant to do, though I don’t know how well it scales.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Blazing Intimidation</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 27 – Single Target Stun + Nuke – Power 80 (adept1) – Casting Time of 2, Recast 45 –</font> Stuns target for 3.8 seconds and dose 365 damage, dose not effect epics or mobs higher then level 48 – Our all around best stun/nuke, if not the only one we get.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#66cc00"><b><font color="#ccffff">Plasmatic Pulse</font> </b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00">– Level 27.6 – Nuke + Chance DoT – Power 65 (app1) – Casting Time of 2, Recast 2 – </font>Instant damage of 120-147, ticks again for 21-32 damage, also has a chance to DoT for 21-32 every 4 seconds – The description of the DoT on this spells says it ticks every 4 seconds, but the duration of the spell is only 0.5 seconds, so the DoT will never go off. The power cost for this spell also seems high as compaired to Ice Spike.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Harvest</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 28 – Power 0 – Personal Power Regen, instant + Stun (adept1) – Casting Time of 1, Recast 30 –</font> Caster gains 190 power but is stunned for 15 seconds. – This spell seems to scale alright, though it would be nice if the stun only lasted 10 seconds.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Pyre</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 28.6 – Power 151 (app1) – Casting Time of 5, Recast 15 – </font>Instant damage of 103-140, decreases targets Int by 38 – This spells says “target encounter” in its description, but after testing it just now, it clearly only effects a single target. It’s power and casting, and recasting times are really high for a single target nuke, which is what it currently is. It also lowers the Int of the target by 38, which is of very little use. This spell needs help badly.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#66cc00"><b><font color="#ccffff">Icy Coil</font> </b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00">– Level 29 – Power 81 (app4) – Single Target Debuff – Casting Time of 2, Recast 15 – </font>Instant damage of 198-242, DoTs for 51-63 every 4 seconds with a duration of 24, decreases heat and cold mitigation by 660. – This spell seems to scale and work fine.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Discretionary Flow</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 30 – Power 0 – Personal Power Regen – Casting Time of 2, Recast 20 –</font> Converts 320 health for 170 power – This spell seems to work and scale fine</font><font color="#99ffcc"><span>.</span></font><font color="#99ffcc"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Benumb</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 30.6 – Power 23 (app1) – Single Target Stifle – Casting Time of 1, Recast 20 –</font> Stifles a non epic target level 46 and below – I can’t complain about this spell, though it only works for 16 levels</font><font color="#99ffcc"><span>.</span></font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Distorted Visions</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 31 – Power 147 (adept1) – Single Target Invisibility – Casting Time of 4, Recast 30 –</font> grants level 41 invisibility, and slows the target by 20%, upon termination grants 2 to spell avoidance and defense for 10 minutes. – Its power costs seems a bit high, but if cast on yourself I guess it really doesn’t matter, as chances are you will not be going into combat anyway.</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Surge of Flames</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 32 – Power 100 (master1) – Casting Time of 2, Recast 25 –</font> Target gains 302 power, but caster is stunned for 15 seconds. – Seems pretty good and scales a lot better then our other power feed spells, though a stun of 10 seconds would be nice (but there’s a training version so there’s no need to lower it here).</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Heat Stroke</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 32.6 – Power 89 – Casting Time of 4, Recast 2 –</font> Instant damage of 54, DoTs for 43 every 4.1 seconds for a duration of 25 seconds. When struck the target has a 5% chance of being stifled. – Unless theres a dual-welding scout in the group, this spell has a very little chance of the stifle being proc’ed, to help this spell out have the duration doubled but to balance it remove the DoT effect.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Intensify</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 32.8 – Power 0 (adept1) – Group Buff – 12hr buff –</font> raises power of group by 184, adds 3 to Crushing, Piercing, Slashing, Ranged, Disruption, Subjugation skills. Grants 455 heat and cold mitigation – This spells seems to be fine</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Tether</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 33 – Power 84 (adept1) – Single Target Root – Casting Time of 3, Recast 9 –</font> Roots target in place, on termination a second very short term roots is cast, the second effect root is irresistible but only lasts 10 seconds, and only be cast on lelve 49 and lower non-epic mobs. – As long as this spell is used to “park” mobs it seems pretty good, if used to hold a mob when nuking it, it’s a poor root.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Intromission</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 33.6 – Power 0 (adept1) – Single Target Power Feed – Casting Time of 4, Recast 20 –</font> increases targets power by 77 – The spell has some problems. First, it dose not scale according to skill increases. My adept has always done only 77 power to target. Also, with such a long recast time, and such a small amount of power given to the target, cutting the casting time of this spell in half wouldn’t hurt.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Freezing Wind</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 34 – Power 193 (app1) – AoE DoT – Casting Time of 3, Recast 20 – </font>Instant 42-51 damage on target group, DoTs for 38-47 every 4 seconds and has a duration of 36 seconds, decreases mitigation of target by 720 heat and cold. – This spells seems pretty good, though it’s power cost seem very high.</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#66cc00"><b><font color="#ccffff">Frostbound Gift</font> </b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00">– Level 35 – Power 153 (app1) – Group Buff, 10 minutes – Casting Time of 2, Recast 3 –</font> Increase health of group by 129, also increases mitigation for group members vs heal, cold, magic, mental and divine by 200 – This spell needs just some minor tweaking. It seems like it dose a lot but for its level 129 health is low, id say upgrade this spell for a better effect, but its scaling to adept is very poor.</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Concurrence</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 35.6 – Power 74 (app1) – Single Target Proc Buff – 15 minute buff –</font> When target is hit there is a 5% chance the target will gain 33 power. – This spells is pretty good, because of the long duration. To make a good spell a really nice spell increase the percent chance to 10%.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Scorching Pulse</b></font><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 36 – Power 149 (app1) </font><font color="#66cc00"><span> </span></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00">– Casting Time of 3, Recast 12 –</font> Instant damage of 79-97 to target group, Dots for 32-39 ever 4 seconds (duration not known, but listed at 0.5 seconds). – Again, like our other Direct AoE lines, this one suffers from lowish damage for its level and too long of a recast time.</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Ball of Flames</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 37 – Power 167 (adept3) – Nuke – Casting Time of 2, Recast 6 –</font> Instant damage of 553-829 heat damage – very nice spell though it dose have a wide damage range and costs a lot of power. This is the number one spell that chews through a wizards power, at higher levels this spell can easily cost 200 power or more.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Fiery Grandeur</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 37.6 – Power 76 (app1) – Single Target Proc Buff – 15 minute buff –</font> it the target hits there is a 5% chance for this spell to proc 53-65 damage or it can DoT the target for 53-65 every 5.3 seconds, duration or the DoT is unknown. Increases targets mitigation vs heat by 100. – This spell is alright, I do buff my group with it, though I don’t believe it scales very well by upgrading it</font><font color="#99ffcc"><span>.</span></font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Depart</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 38 – Power 126 (app1) – Evacuation –</font> Casting Time of 5, Recast 15 minutes – Evacs all, if not most, of the party to safety – This spell is one of our “balance” factor spells. It is nice but is mainly used as a short range travel spell. This is due to it not being reliable in an Evac situation. The casting time is very long, 5 seconds, and is interruptible; Ive even had enemy DoTs interrupt when I was casting this spell many time. If the caster is personally under attack your better off trying to run for it. In 5 seconds an enemy can hit you clost to 8 or 9 times, and this spell interrupts very easily. </font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Descry</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 38.6 – Power 69 – Group Buff, 15 minutes – </font>This spell adds 17-20 </font><font color="#99ffcc">Wis</font><font color="#99ffcc">and Int to the group, along with 61 see stealth. – For its level 17-20 to a pool is pretty low compared to other classes, and see stealth has very little, if any, use currently.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#99ffcc"><b></b></font></p><p><font color="#ccffff"><b>Immolation</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"><font color="#ccffff"> </font>– Level 39 – Power 89 (adept1) – High Damage DoT – Casting Time of 4, Recast 20 –</font> Instant damage of 218-364, then DoTs for 222-371 every 1.5 seconds, duration of 4.5 seconds. – This spell is very nice indeed. The recast is a bit high, but the low power and decent damage is very nice</font><font color="#99ffcc"><span>.</span></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Aurora </b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00">– Level 39.6 – Power 78 (adept1) – Single Target Mez – Casting Time of 1, Recast 30 –</font> Mez’s a single target for a duration of 20.4 seconds but also stuns the caster for the same amount. – This spell as the same problems as </font><font color="#99ffcc"><b>Boreal</b></font><font color="#99ffcc">, listed above.</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Piercing Icicles</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 40 – Power 81 (app1) – Single Target Debuff – Casting Time of 2, Recast 15 –</font> Instant damage of 161-197 and DoTs the target for 51-63 every 4 seconds, duration of 24 seconds. Decreases mitigation of target by 660 heat and cold – Pretty good spell and I believe it scales really good</font><font color="#99ffcc"><span></span></font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Hand of the Tyrant </b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66ff00"><font color="#66cc00">– Level 40.6 – Power 0 – Group Buff – 12hr buff –</font> </font>Increase Int and Str of group by 16-20, increases mitigation vs heat by 360-440, has 1% chance per person in group being hit to raise the DPS of the caster by 0-1%. – Now this spells secondary effect could be very interesting, but even through scaling of the spell it never increases pass 1% gain, if it procs to begin with. A 1% increase in DPS is nothing as most of our spells vary in damage greatly, a 1% gain would just be lost in the numbers.</font><font color="#99ffcc"><i></i></font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#99ffcc"></font><font color="#ccffff"><b>Vital Flow</b></font><font color="#99ffcc"><font color="#66cc00"> – Level 41 – Power 0 – Personal Power Regen – Casting Time of 2, Recast 20 – </font>Converts 330 health into 175 power – this spell seems fine so far.</font><font color="#99ffcc"></font></p><p><font color="#00cc66">------</font><font color="#00cc66"></font></p><p><font color="#00cc66">Well, thats all my wizard spells up to my current level, this dose not include the training spells every 10 levels.</font><font color="#00cc99"></font></p><p>Message Edited by Ironcleaver on <span class=date_text>05-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:26 PM</span>
