<div></div><div></div><div></div>I don't know, in my server, a lot of wizards, then I have some difficulties trying to see what an <i>average </i>wizz can do in soloing. I am 45 ; yesterday I was in RV, harvesting. A lamia assasin (green double arrow) jumped me, barrage 1300, another cast 1200, I was almost dead.  My horse saved me. I decided to test a little bit more : took a green rat, double arrow, truss (adept 1) then immolation (adept3) Ice wind (adept3) ball of flame (adept3)  root breaks, paralyse (adept1) truss : fizzle, truss again, resisted. Mob on me, barrage, fast casting, 2200 damages, flying mage Of course if root is not resisted, I have no problems. But the higher the mob, the more he resists, the more I am near death. ... The few wizies I met in the game are all more or less saying that they meet same problem. (no other wiz in guild). .. now a warrior friend told me he saw a 44 wiz friend soloing without problem level 48 mobs in EF. Either my warrior friend was looking at a warlock and not at a wizard (hehe he is a warrior ! if you see what I mean), or I solo like a stupid dumb ... ?? I know I will never be the very best wiz soloer, but hell, I don't want to be the worst <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ... Well, I've been a mage for 6 years in EQ1, then may be I am not at all good at soloing like a wizard, but I don't really understand what I can do to be able to solo white or yellow mobs (solo ones, of course). BTW, I am very often on the summoner's board : http://eq2.eqsummoners.com/viewtopic.php?t=1642 but I know they are much better soloers than I will ever be, that's the price of DPS <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <p>Message Edited by ailees on <span class=date_text>04-27-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:43 PM</span>

First off you didn't even use your best root, ring of cold. This is a very usful spell for soloing post 41, it holds the mob no matter what for 36 secs I believe. If the mobs resists then break the encoutner and run away and try again. Once you have the mob rooted with ring of cold you can nuke it to hell, I would use the debuffing nukes such as Icy coil and piecreing icicles then hit them with immolation, ball of fire, ice flame and west fiend's or ball of fire and then the last nuke with ball of fire again. At this time you should have the mob at 60%. You then hit it with a frozen mentecles, (yes old spell but even useful at lv 50) then cast vital flow for some mana and then cast truss, once truss hits cast immolation then followed by a frozen mantecles. At this point your ring of cold has recharged then repeat the process until the mob is dead. With the following process you'll be able to solo ^^ blue mobs, 2 ^ are bit tougher since it requires for the mobs to be rooted at the same time in the begining but it can be done with practice. <DIV>dont use dots for soloing ^^, the dot effect breaks roots and then you die.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>from what I hear truss + immo is your soloing friend.  as immolation wont break the second root of truss.  If it turns out that it does then I'd start using west fiends + truss + canni's and power regen spells.  basically should be the same as my guide just with higher lvl spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>also ring of cold would be nice to use to finish off the mob quick.  but I hear the dot effect after can be a pain trying to keep a mob rooted as it can break normal roots.</DIV>

"don't use DOTS for soloing ^^" well, if 'you' is ME, I don't ! I am not dumb enough to use a DOT with truss. I'll try Surrok's technic with ROC (hehe using an AE to solo, did not think about it) and Icicle then all 4 big damage casting. Cani mandatori, yeah I hope those assasin won't have too many HPs. Thanks, will try. It was not very far from my starting idea, I will not try a mob 4 level higher than me, even if my warrior friends says he saw that. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

At lvl50 i can solo lvl50++ mobs. It's easy as long as there is 1 mob to kill. <div></div>

Those mobs you were soloing happen to do alot of dmg. They may not b the bect benchmark for soling. <div></div>

At 50 i can solo lvl 48^^ mobs if it ain't casters ;p pull with a debuff, stun, tether or skillroot, immo, nuke, ring of cold, nuke nuke nuke nuke, at rootbreak stun, reroot, nuke nuke death. Takes a bit of practice though. And the use of 2 stuns and your single and grouproot. All adept3. And be sure to train your stun and root skills. Check with L for what to train ;p <div></div>

Keep in mind that not allmobs have the same amount of hit points even though they are the same lv. Nightbloods in particular have tons of hps and are hard to solo in RV. Also giants have long reach, at your lv 45 you could solo sheep in EF. Soloing any white and yellow mobs runs the risk of of too many resists. Using dots is okay with my method because the dot effects have worn off by the time you cast truss. But as you read Ring of Cold should be your bread and butter root and use truss and frozen mantacles to hold the mob till ring of cold refreshes. Surok lv 50 wiz <div></div>

Yeah there are a varitiy of mobs. And yes it sucks to solo caster mobs. I think that its hard for most classes to solo hi dmg casters. Does that mean were guna kick butt when PvP comes out. <div></div>

Frozen Manacles, right ? the 19 cold DD+ root ?  it works on level 40+ mobs ? never thought about that. Yeah, I think my main difficulty is finding what root use (never used root in another game), then find mobs who will not kill me in 2 castings when 2 close to me (yesterday in RE i met an <i>assasin </i>when I was not expecting him, "barrage" and "panick something", I just had time to paralyze and evac with 200 HPs left) <div></div>
