View Full Version : Ring of Cold broken?

In the spell description it says it does cold damage over time, is anyone experiencing this? Other than that this spell rocks!! It reminds me of root spells in EQ1 that would hold target forever. In all instances used while soling, mobs were all dead before root was over. I use it as my main root spell even though it is AoE root, I find it doesn't use much power anyway. Does anyone else like this spell and ditching the past roots spell?

We get other roots?

Thought they were only meant as landfill for our spell book.

It's working, but the dot only triggers when the root brakes.

Ah, so the dot is triggered when the root breaks, thanks for info. Does anyone use this spell for soloing single or group mobs since it actually roots mobs for such a long perios of time?

DO NOT DO THAT PLEASE. Because as soon as it breaks, and you dont think you have aggro, it comes for you. Not only does it waste power, but it wastes your damage/time ratio.

The only time i use it in a group is if there is not illusionist and an add is comming. I will use it to root and control the add mob while we take down the main mob. Personally thats the only use for it in a group.

I also use it a lot for soloing and i think every wizard does. It holds them long enough to kill the mob most of the time depending on the lvl of mob you are fighting. It is really fun to have two wizards/warlocks and use that spell (diff name for warlocks) and just nuke away, when one breaks, then the other caster should have theirs on the mob right away. Takes team work, but Yellow(double up) go down easy. It has lots of uses in soloing or small groups that DOES NOT have a tank. If the group has a tank then its a waste.

Agreed Onions, there is not much use for it in groups other than the occasional add that u wanna park. Was just wondering if anyone tried using it for soloing any group mobs and use quad kiting EQ1 techniques to bring down mobs. Have no idea where that would be since there arent any places that actually allow u to kite withght bumping into another mob

Yeah the DOT is after it breaks. Makes soloing a little rougher if you wanna try group mobs, have to time things very carefully-- dot breaks other roots. I will say that this spell enabled me to solo a white ^^ mob (very hard but doable). Only problem is roots break unexpectedly cause of DOT or I get a resist so its tricky. Great spell nontheless

The snare is broken however. It is suppost to snare the target after the roots breaks, but insted it raises its speed out of battle.

aside from soloing you can use the root to get aggro back on the main tank quicker if the healer or someone pulls it. just cast the root tel everyone to take a step back except for the tank.....mob picks closest target

Ring of Cold is great. A lot of wizards I've spoken with on my server either don't use it or don't even know about it... Most of them are 'group only' wizards that have very low Subjugation so it fizzles for them all the freaking time and they don't use it.

Personally, I use it extensively when soloing and for crowd control in groups.
