Ok this is really really PMO , for the past ... lets just say my entire season(s) lvling it has been a total pain trying to get groups.

Yes like everyone occasionaly i will get a group , Notice the keyword there. I can go LFG for more then 3 hours and get nothing ,

( Meanwhile im doing solo quests and harvesting .

(Gotten a good bit of rares heee)

Anyhow , ive gotten to the point I have started a templar and gotten groups not even a min after i go LFG given the fact that its not a slow day out in the feild.

Yes i know healers are 1000 fold more in demand then wizzies anyday .

But im sure you all know what im talking about.

So the main point of this post is to ask all of you if you are having the same probs grouping as i am , and if not [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] are you doing that gets you groups so fast .

I dont really have problems getting into groups.

Also, have you considered making the group you self and not just wait for others to contact you? This really speed things up quite a bit :smileywink:

You are totally right. The only I time I get a group is with players that are 4-5 levels below me and that is not often.

Let's see: Unable to get group (waste of time), Can't really solo (waste of time), Can't complete heritages (waste of time), Can not get good exp (waste of time), Unable to get good equipment because you need alot of money to buy it.

Way to go SOE.

SOE= hates casters and You.

i also wante to mention i tend to see grps that have 2 or more wizzie's or warlocks and since wizzies outnumber warlocks 3:1 i see more wizzies. Only peeps i see getting the grp shaft are the scouts since most grp if they do want one they only want one.

I never seem to have trouble

but then again i make my gold by harvesting so i do that while i wait...

You may try to be LFG in a better Location. For example if you are 35-40, rather than just sitting in RV or RE with LFG on stay in EL, most groups from either zone that are looking for members will pop into EL to advertise. Anyway just an idea.

Other factors:

Your server's population...

Your Reputation....

i've noticed it's a *little* slower... the new zone on Nek seems really popular...go there...it's kind of fun

like another poster said, make your own group...it's amazing to me how often i check the LFG list and make a group right out of that in 10 seconds

I also generally don't have a problem getting groups. Most people have come to realize that wizards and warlocks do a TON of damage, and it speeds up killing in groups incredibly. Do like the others here say, and make your own group if you need to. I was in TS the other day, at 6:30am in the morning, and I saw 3 other people saying in /ooc that they were looking for group (doing this can also help you). I invited all of them, then saw a group of two looking for more. I invited them and within 10 minutes we had all found each other and started slaughtering giants. You need to realize that just clicking your LFG icon isn't gonna automatically get you a group. You have to be proactive. Maybe Guardians and Templars/Inquisitors can do that, but in general you need to put forth some effort.

I just can't believe that there is anyone who has a 30 or higher wizard and can honestly say they don't understand the pick up grouping issue. Its not easy as a wiz. And if you think it is, then you don't have a similar level templar! I don't have any problems grouping my wiz, cos I only bring my wiz out on request from my guildmates! Its nearly true to say that I never play my wiz anymore. The fun factor just isn't there. Between my gnome bezerker and my dark elf templar my wiz is just sitting at home sagecrafting. The only thing I miss is group hits. AoE is just not the same.

Maybe a templar gets a group easier - that is probably true. However, i think that once the group has a healer, i'm in the group next.

i feel a lot more sympathetic for tanks and scouts. I think they have a lot more problems getting into groups. I think that because when i'm forming the group, i never have a problem recruiting those classes. Let's face it: if you want a functioning group, you need some DPS and wizzies are best at that. Many times you only need one healer. But you sure can't have one dps.

There must be some reason that healers are at a bit of a premium. They are really not more required than any other class. From my own point of view (don't flame me), i would never have a healer alt. I don't care whether i'm in such demand that i get invites from EL when I'm in Starcrest. I just don't find the role interesting at all. And i'm not sure the logic follows, but i suspect many people don't find the role interesting either.

I'd have to say pre-38, wizards do kind of get looked over sometimes. Mostly because groups have three priorities: Tank, Healer, Evac. Everything else is DPS, with the optional 4th slot for crowd control (I've never really found it necessary, but that's off topic). At 38+, however, you will get a lot more groups, because a) wizards can fulfill one of these three critical roles and b) by that time, the wizard really starts to come into their own where damage is concerned. By 39+ you are a damage dealing machine. Immolation is a HUGE difference. So is the faster casting ball of flames (37). Prior to that... I had trouble myself. Another thing to consider is your play style. Personally I do everything I can to out-aggro the tanks. Its fun! And groups know when I do that, it means one thing: I am absolutely putting the smack down on the mob. Afterall, if there is an assassin in the group, and the mob is going after me, instead of the assassin, that means I am doing more damage, right? (Well, maybe not, but most of the time parses pretty well backs that statement up.) Groups love damage dealers and most players have good memories. If they remember you do a LOT of damage, they'll group you. If, however, the scout is the one "accidentally" peeling mobs off the tank, they will remember them. (Yeah, peeling mobs off tanks isn't really the brightest idea, but it is an effective way I have found to make groups remember you. Especially if you joke about it!) So, I dunno what to say. I have no problem getting a group when I go looking for one usually. But then again, wizards can solo so well half the time its just better to solo so /shrug it is all good IMO.

/LFG on, go harvest/tradeskill, solo or quest. Or start your own group and /who all - 3 +3 levels.

Depending on what time it is (and what zone I'm in), it takes me on average 10min - 1hr. That's for my wizard or warlock.

Do a /who all priest LFG, then fighter, mage, scout...you'll see...at least on crushbone, either there are way more of us or mages just have a hard time getting in groups.

Honestly, there's nothing more I like either than pounding a mob - i just find that the group doesn't want me to grab aggro.

I USUALLY START MY OWN GROUPS!!!!! You can't sit around and wait for a handout, find a healer and a tank and start a group!

Groups look for

1 tank

1-2 healers

rest in DPS

I never have trouble finding groups. And if I do I just start my own,

Most of the zones have solo stuff near the entrance so I will enter the zone go LFG then solo till someone gives me an invite. I am 38 and rarely have trouble. I also think that at 39 I will have even less trouble.

And again if you have trouble getting a group, just start your own. Start calling around find a tank and a healer and go at it.

IF you are worried about stealing agro just get a tank a level above you. Other than the level I first got BoFL I have never had trouble getting agro. Most of the tanks in my guild are below me so sometimes I have to go a little easy. That is cast a couple more dots and stuns and a lettle less Ball of Flame.

I regularly enter a group and hear WOO HOO Aazer is here!

When you get higher it's usually better to go LFG in Qeynos Harbor / West Freeport unless you really want to go to some zone in specific.

That way you're the same distance from Permafrost as from Lavastorm as from Cazic-Thule as from Rivervale.

One ticket and some running.

Sowwie i posted before i viewed all the posts. I will def start forming my own groups TY for advice.

post before edit

Oh yes pleaae excuse my bluntness,

I am a 39 wizzy on Highkeep , 38 at the origional time of posting.Like many have said before i go and harvest to waste time ( which in turn has gotten me about 10 rares). But anyway ive started to put Evac aka depart into my LFG messages . Like-----

/shout 39 Wizzy with EVAC LFG.

Its helped a little bit cause Evac saves the need of a ranger and makes room for a extra .... uhm.... Assassin maybe. Also ive gotten so many invites from people 4-5 lvls below me and the first words in group are.....OK we got a high lvl player lets go try ( This) after we go get our shards from the little monkies drinking tea .

I mean at this point im about ready to flipout and start throwing things lol.

I am guilded but unfortunatly my guild is more alts / and people i dont know that are with their IRL friends.

So it always A, Monk says ok IRL friends go with friend B Temp, C Dirge and D Temp and lets invite this 44 Guardian ( not guilded, Then since we want something lets go get thehigher damage assassin.

So not much help there either, so enough of this rant of guild probs.

I guess also my othe rmain prob is i guess i was expecting i would be held in higher demand since i recieved Evac at 38 .

Message Edited by Mataichi on 03-29-2005 05:35 AM
