Depart upgrade?

However, I can give some anecdotal evidence from my experience.I upgraded to App IV as soon as I got the ability to cast the spell, and never cast it with a group when it was only App I. A few weeks ago a friend asked me the same question you did when he got Depart. He had cast Depart App I twice, and left people behind each time (once it was himself left behind). Not that this means anything, but I offer some more input. I have Departed dozens, possibly over a hundred times, and never left anyone behind. Not even myself. My Depart is Apprentice I. Dunno if the upgrade helps or not. I figure, if I ever leave someone behind, I'll go upgrade then. Not before.

<DIV>The first time I cast evac after I received it at app1, I managed to leave the tank, healer and chanter behind :smileyvery-happy: Needless to say I upgraded it as soon as I could. I don't know if that made a difference to how the spell works, or whether it's because my groupmates now all huddle when they know I am casting evac, but I don't often leave people behind anymore. Personally I don't think upgrading it makes all that much difference and I have a sneaking suspicion our evac will eventually be changed to no level like the scouts' one was in the last patch. There is one noticeable difference for me between adept1 and app4, and that is I fizzle the spell a whole lot more with the adept1! So I think it's up to the individual wizzy whether they upgrade it or not. </DIV>
