<DIV>Spells get resisted a lot more than melee attacks do.  I was with a group fighting some red mobs, and I would manage to land MAYBE one nuke per fight.  And this is with attempts at debuffs.  The assassin and swashbuckler my same level seemed to be able to hit it consistently.  As a result, I was pretty much useless.  It is a lot better than it used to be before they nerfed melee damage to higher level mobs, but I think the balance needs to be looked at again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, my nukes almost always hit on the low end of their damage, no matter what I am fighting.  My Ball of Flames Adept 3 has a top damage of 700+, but I have never seen it hit for over 700 and very rarely over 600, even after debuffing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for green and grey mobs, they still resist a ton.  I was killing some giants in TS at lvl 38.  These giants were 26-28, deep grey.  Yet I was still getting a pretty considerable number of resists.  This is also one reason we can't take on green^^ mobs like other classes can.  They resist our spells pretty heavily even after debuffs, yet a melee character will hit them just about every time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, to my conclusions</DIV> <DIV>1) Group mobs much higher than your level need to resist less, so I can do damage on par with the scouts of my same level.</DIV> <DIV>2) Grey-Green group mobs need to resist a lot less.  Kind of ridiculous that a fighter can tank one of these and barely get hit, but I have trouble getting my spells to stick.  Not to mention it hits me just fine, heh.</DIV>

<DIV>I'm level 36 and I was killing gnoll runts for the language quest.  They are level 9, yet they resisted my spells regurlarly.  I can't resist anything an even con throws at me, yet a mob 27 levels below me resists my spells.  /shrug</DIV>

<DIV>the worst spell i have for resists is blazing intimidation. i get a resist at least once a fight and it is soon going to be my only stun as freeze (which never resists) says "would not take affect" when i try to cast it on orange/red mobs.</DIV>

<DIV>To the last poster... blazing intimidation is rolled off your subjegation skill.. which at your level ( the level where both freeze and BI both still stick most of the time) is going to be low... once you are in your higher 30's BI will stick much more often, and get to the point where it is just like freeze in terms of resist rate.. then at 42 or so you get another stun.. which I would imagine follows the same pattern as this..</DIV>

<DIV>My blazing intimidation gets resisted a ton too, and my subjugation skill is maxed.</DIV>

My blazing intimidation gets resisted every time (or at least every time I've bothered at an attempt to use it). App IV and subjugation is maxed, at level 37. The spell seriously needs to have the damage component and stun component put on sepereate resists.Other than that, I have experienced the same issue with red mobs. Actually, lately, I have been having a LOT of resists on group mobs in general. Nothing like throwing Ball of Flames, Ball of Fire, and another Ball of Flames at a target, and watching all three resist one right after the other. Oh well. I didn't really want all that mana anyways. I'm a wizzie. I'll just... tank!

<DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffff00>I also posted in another thread on this board, so I c&p'd here..</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't know the link between mentoring and resists.  But, in my honest opinion, I think resists in general are set too high.  For example, in Runnyeye last night.  I'm a level 33 wizard most all spells are Adp1 or AppIV min, I had to be resisted 3 times in a single fight on a blue mino.  Way too much...I can see a single resist in a given fight, but 3?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, I didn't play EQ1, but I did play EQOA for the PS2 and FFXI on PC.  In both those games, casters we the damage dealers hands down.  What I liked about EQOA was, if you were in a grind group and the group wanted to go for higher level mobs.  Do you know the class they would go after?  Yes...get a caster, especially a wizard.  Our damage didn't scale down on higher mobs (except raid mobs like Vox, Isle of Dread type mobs) but rather, did full damage.  Same in FFXI, if you had a black mage in your group...they were there to damage and damage big.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here, I find it crazy that a mob can resist a fire ball to the face 100%.  I mean come on, "Mr. Mob, I just threw a [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] fireball at your head...and you didn't even blink??"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I suggest in general, SOE implement a scalable resist system.  If we face an even con mob, they may have a 20% to resist 100%, they may have a 30% to resist 50% ...otherwise we have a 70% to hit for full.  This full resist system just does not make sense...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Again...massive fireball hits mob in face...that has to do some damage.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also agree on the flip side.  That mob casters should also have the same system.  Let me tell you, in EQOA when we would run through Perma and Vox's lair.  You know which mob stopped you in your tracks...the goblin wizard.  They were bad, bad, bad...as they should be.  <IMG height=16 src="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif" width=16 border=0></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oumania</DIV> <DIV>QTDCo. - Blackburrow</DIV></DIV>
