<DIV> <DIV>Well I have recently came back to everquest 2, my system couldnt handle it before but after a few hundred bucks im good to go now. Anyhow my wife is going to play a templar and myself I cant really decide on what to play conjurer or wizard. I am a newbie really at eq2 but got alot of eq1 experience so basically heres the situation.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We are going to be hunting together full time, so soloing is out and this duo is in. I figure most the time we will be in groups (Since she will be a healer I am not concerned about finding a group with either class haha). Basically I love to nuke, and I love pets. I played a mage on everquest 1 for years and years however I always felt a step behind wizards. Generally pets were as alot of you know not liked on raids, and really my DPS wasnt that great compared to rogues/wizards, and your basically life of summoning mod rods left something to be desired. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, without the pet seems like when we arent grouping just doing a duo the conjurer/templar combo is going to be much stronger than wizard/templar? Once again this is more a question than an answer heh.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am moving servers to be with my old guild from eq1, and actually already have a wizard (not very high level). I loved him to be honest, if wizard dps is lower than any class im not really concerned about it truthfully. In eq1 they would be the best dps one expansion, number 3 the expansion after that, then back to number 1, on and on. Basically could templar/wizard be a viable duo?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any tips would be great! </DIV></DIV>

<DIV>The problem that you are going to have is that a wizard cannot take any hits, they cannot tank. They do alot of dmg now. If your wife tanked as a cleric she could not hold agro and you would probably get it. Wizards def hit more than a conj but they have a good tank pet. I really love playing a wizard so I am not sure what kind of a combo for you to play.</DIV>

<DIV>Conjurors prolly best if you duoing with a healer. The pet just gives you more options and makes a fairly decent tank. It even has taunting ability. Just send it in and get your wife to heal it while you nuke. If you do go conj, be sure to read their forums about training options you will recieve at 10, 20, 30 and 40, since making the wrong choice there may [Removed for Content] your character. I think one of the options is a nice pet that you should choose.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Sorano on <span class=date_text>03-09-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:05 AM</span>

<DIV>As I stated before while the conj does have nice pets they do not nuke for alot of dmg. At least that is what a conj friend was telling me. He would have rerolled had he not been 40 at the time. I do not know for a fact how much they nuke for. I do not know they have some nice dots.</DIV>

<DIV>Thanks all for the help so far, its been very useful. Seems like if she goes templar that conjurer would be the route to go. Being that im a newbie I really didnt know about wards heh. I've done a bit of reading seems like by theory (Only theory lol) that the mystic/wizard combo would be as strong if not stronger? My wife just wants to heal shes a bigger newbie than I am shes only played WoW for like 3 weeks. All she knows is, she wants to heal hehe. so I am kinda researching both for us. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As you might be able to tell i am sort of leaning toward wizard but I would like us to catch up to our friends soon. So how would mystic/wizard combo stack up against conj/templar combo? Seems both would be very group friendly also.</DIV>

<DIV>If she goes mystic, keep in mind that their wards are currently borked and don't take armour mitigation into consideration. This is why they are good healers for us cloth wearers, since their wards function the same on us as they do on a plate tank. This will get frustrating for her at higher levels though and make healing a chore in groups, but maybe they will fix wards and she won't have to deal with it. Honestly I would go conj/templar. It's the safest choice. </DIV>

<DIV>wouldnt a warden match up best with a mage? they get alot of elemental debuffs and templars dont have the direct healing capability that a warden does should the conj/wiz get aggro also a warden would bring a bit more dps to the duo than would a templar. Those reactives heal a crap load slower than a natures caress or natures embrace should the mage get hit. personally id do that..... warden/conj is prolly the better combo to duo with out of them all in my opinion. The warden can also cast the HoT's and damage sheilds on the pets while they are tanking, works pretty good too</DIV>

I have seen regens fail horribly in extremely tough situations where a single reactive would have made it a billion times easier. Also, conjurors can debuff just fine. The only reason I would pick warden would be for the damage shields they get...they raised my swashbuckler AC by nearly 500...(the +agi had some to do with it also though). Conjuror + Templar= fun!For the past 2 levels I have been duoing completely with a conjuror...25 conj/24warlock and we rock the heroic encounters like no one's business. Conjurors can heal their tank, do good dmg, invis, etc what else do you need for small groups?

<DIV>group with a warden thats at least 32 then say you will only pick them for damage sheild rofl</DIV>
It probably isn't optimal, but I duo my 26 warlock with a 26 templar. Its all about aggro control, which can be a (fun) challenge, but with practice you can balance your nukes vs the taunt effect of heals. When I get aggro that the templar can't regain, it turns into quite a fireworks show (burn baby burn!). The safer approach has the downside of longer drawn-out fights.Just a thought.

I duo with my friend who plays a 37 Inquisitor on occasion. Works pretty well, so long as I give him time to build up a bit of aggro. We stick to green and blue ^^ mobs and do just fine in places like Runnyeye. Dont really know how big the difference is between Inquisitors and Templars is tho, and were both geared very well so it might not work as well. My experience is that you can make almost anything work fairly well, altho you might have to use some unorthodox tactics.

<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00>My preferred duo's are the following:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00>Wizard / Guardian - No healer needed, the mob dies fast enough</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00>Wizard / Berserker - Same as above. Risk is greater but mob dies faster.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00>Wizard / Warlock - Mob is normally dead before it reaches you. Some risk since neither can tank.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00>Wizard / Illusionist - Mob will be stunned and/or rooted most of the time. Slow kill, but no downtime.</FONT></DIV></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00>Wizard / Templar - Templar can hold aggro <EM>fairly</EM> well by constantly buffing and healing when not necessary. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00>Wizard / Mystic - Even a mage can tank with good wards. Emphasis on good.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ffff00></FONT> </DIV>

<DIV>Pet can't hold agro. You send the pet in, the priest heals it, the mob's on the priest. Period.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Be a wizard. You can tank just fine with a cleric healing you, and you'll be able to hold agro no problem.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I had a friend two-box a wizard/templar up to 30.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Last night, with him still green, that Wizard tanked Varsoon the Undying with a shaman as healer.</DIV>
