<DIV>I have not seen it stated any where whether debuff DOTs stack.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In other words... when I am soloing is it worth it to cast Freezing wind and Icy Coil. Freezing Wind has a very high damage over time component, but combat is over a long time before it's total damage can be realized. It does, however have a high debuff component which is very useful. If the debuff component does not stack with Icy Coil's debuff it seems senseless to cast. Time is better spent casting dd arts for the quick kill.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Comments?</DIV>

A very good question. I think you don't get an answer because we don't have any way to find out for sure. My guess is that they do not stack, because mobs would either have insane resists or would usually have negative values. At level 34 I usually cast incinerate reduces 170-354 vs heaticy coil reduces 489-712 vs. heat/coldsometimes I add Freezing Wind 612-870 vs. heat/coldlets say in avg we have something like this (heat): incinerate: 250icy coil : 600freezing w: 750total: 1600At the moment I have 1550 resistance vs. heat which is by far the highest for me (but if I would be a mob I probably would be a solo target <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ). The mob would either have to have much more or it would have negative resists. But even with all 3 debuffs I get resists with ball of fire. I have the impression (but no numbers) that the rate of resists is not influenced by casting freezing wind or not, but this can be wrong and probably is. As all dps programs are broken now, I have no way to check. Another factor: does 'negative resists' mean: no resists at all or what other factors do influence whether a mob resists casting a damage spell. It could work like this: each spell cast is fed to a random generator who uses the resist number of the mob as weight. So the numbers influence but don't determine the fact whether a spell is resisted. Then it all boils down to the fact how much resists are weighted. We would need a static mob to find out.

<DIV>seems like they stack, my icy coil and freeze hit higher if I cast both debuffs</DIV>

Piecing Icicles, Icy Coil, Freezing Wind, Freezing Whorl, and Incinerate. You might be able to pull off almost 4k debuff on both heat and cold. Enjoy =) Too bad after all those are stacked, it's sad to see that your spells still get reisisted along witht the debuffs of other classes combined :smileysad:</FONT></P><p>Message Edited by Admhel on <span class=date_text>03-03-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:15 AM</span>
