<DIV>I'm curious to know if anyone besides me has noticed that root seems to stick longer since yesterdays (2/26) patch?  Until yesterday when I would solo, root would break within my first two dots the vast majority of the time... when I would re-root it would stick for like a second then break... Since yesterday though I notice that root seems to be sticking longer now.. and re-roots are holding better as well.  Now that isn't to say that there still isn't the ocassional bad luck on roots, but it seems to be happening much less frequently now... I asked another wiz friend if they noticed it and they did as well... anyone else notice this?</DIV>

<DIV>It may be subjective but they seem to be sticking better now.</DIV>

I havent noticed. I played for several hours yesterday. I was soloing yellow lashers and sand turtles in EL as a lev 33 wiz using adept 1 Frozen Manacles. I had just as much trouble with root breaking as I've always had. I t may have been a little better on the green Runneye scouts.Fizzles and interrupts seemed to be about the same as well.<p>Message Edited by Torgrin on <span class=date_text>02-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:52 AM</span>

When killing giants in EF yesterday i noticed that Ring of Cold and Truss landed most of the time. Before they always (9 out of 10) got resisted.

I have seen no difference... and I fought grays to oranges all day. They broke root just as much as usual. I even seemed to have worse time with root break/teleport in fact. My new solo strategy is to root every other spell... works as long as it doesn't break or get resisted hehe (which is all the time)Ooja36th WizLucan D

I guess i forgot to say that the giants i was talking about are blue. Don't know any yellow or orange solo mobs i can test on at lvl50.

<DIV>I did some extensive work on this subject in EL killing badgers group^^ mobs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you all you do is stun and root the roots seem to last the exact same amount of time.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My pattern is this</DIV> <DIV>Blazing intimidation (BI)</DIV> <DIV>Frozen Manicles (FM)</DIV> <DIV>as soon as Frozen Manicles resets I cast it again.  Sure I could wait a bit but if it fails I want a chance to come back with tether right away.</DIV> <DIV>as soon as FM resets I cast it again</DIV> <DIV>Cast BI</DIV> <DIV>Start casting FM again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I could cast a canabalize spell with no problem I could keep my mana up between casts and save my teather and freeze for emergencies in case I had a spell resisted.  Which did not happen often but did happen.  If I cast essence harvest I found that about 90% of the root would break.  I only tried this about 4 times before I concluded a direct connection between me being rooted and my mob being free to bash me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then I tried</DIV> <DIV>Icy Coil (IC)</DIV> <DIV>BI</DIV> <DIV>FM</DIV> <DIV>FM</DIV> <DIV>IC</DIV> <DIV>Freeze </DIV> <DIV>FM</DIV> <DIV>BI</DIV> <DIV>FM</DIV> <DIV>FM</DIV> <DIV>IC</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It is not exactly that order every time depends on reset of spells, but I found that with this combination I found myself being required to use freeze more often because evidently at an uncommon occurance the DOT would break the root.  It did not happen every time but it did happen often.  Casting the extra stun spells that were not as mana efficient as BI and using more roots because they broke played hell on my my mana.  Again I tried cannabalize which did fine but again the essence harvest almost always broke the root.  This time I could not be sure if it was my Essance Harvest or the DOT but it happend a lot.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I killed about 40 group badgers this way so I did this for a long long time, about a third of a level at 36.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So in conclusion.  Essence harvest breaks roots, though I dont know why.  Dots sometimes break roots but the extra damage you do does not compesate you for the extra mana you end up using managing the broken roots.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Slow but sure way to kill mobs.  Stun root root root Stun root root root</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It can take forever sometimes but it is a safe way to kill group mobs.  I also use this strategy when my group does not have a chanter and we need to break up a large group.  Warning raid mobs and many high level mobs will not be affected by stuns at all and they resist more often.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The first time I killed everling I stole one of his helpers and held him at bay with root and stuns.  We had a chanter hold his other helper that left our two tanks and healers to just manage everling.  By the time they finished him off my mob was over half dead. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At 35 I once soloed a level 36^^ centurian in Zek.  First two times I tried I had to run away on my loyal steed ole silver trigger.  but the third time I killed him.  Just stun root root root stun root root root stun repeat repeat</DIV> <P>Message Edited by aaza on <SPAN class=date_text>03-03-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>11:31 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by aaza on <span class=date_text>03-03-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:32 AM</span>
