View Full Version : My take after 30 mins of the new damage!

Evening all and hello to the mods/devs who might read this!First sorry been gone, got into this board thing to try to voice my oppinions but due to small mishap ive been on my back for a 2 weeks mostly off the game.NOW my char-level 39 wizzy. ALL gear is orange but dagger. (blue the one from grim feather wanted the 5 stat adjustments of +3 instead of +4 dagger)Spells- out of 30-39. ALL spells are at least apprentice 4. I have 6 adept 3 spells. (most of my damage spells)I put a post on numbers up here and i do keep pretty good track of my damage.Today I loged in after long break to see my new damage.... Went to EL to check it out.(so you know i read a post from a mod the other day about the changed to tanks on this patch and he was saying he kills IM GONE FIND THIS TOMM!quote- I was killing blues whites easy, yellows with some life, and even a green ^^ with no problem )as a 39 wizzy i wish i could do any of that!OK- fight 1- bear (briz something) level 32 group mob. root held, 242 on my icey coil then 60 approx 4 timesresisted fire dot, redid root (adept 3 by the way)cast ho,ball of fire- 425ball of flames 503 +132 horoot broke lost 1/2 hp.. backed up put root on, cast horoot broke killed me in 2 hits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OK so cant kill green ^^ mobslevel 32 wasp of darkness (GRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)root didnt stick.. 1/4 hp down in 1 hitstun 212 damageroot stuckdot- icey coil- 301, 60's 4 times (resisted 1)HO-ball of fire 327root broke cast stun- ( he interupted)ran (on horse 2.5 plat wasted ohhh im slow.. hit water.. sprinted.. rooted (1/4 hp left)ball of flames - adept 3 killer spell.. 550 +94tyrant 300ish dead..I WAS at 1/4 life below 1/2 power-- REGEN mana- (cant remember one it stuns me.. ) IT SUCKS now..while im sitting their.. I watched a 33 ranger cut down same exact mob with 75% mana 75% health and fight over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NEEDLESS to say all gray mobs level 31-32 i got a high damage of 662 (with ho)AM i the only one in high 30's think this upgrade sucks.. I dont want to try blue/white mobs ill be dead to fast.. Group im sure we rock, but honest.. we suck solo mr and mr's MOD/DEV.. tomm night ill trap all exact info and fight 50 mobs.. but I still think a 35 anything can kill more than we can 4 levels higher!!!!NOW bash if you want. but would like some debate please..

Unfortunately, it's the price we pay for being able to deal huge damage and Wizards are probably the worst out of all Mage types for soloing mainly because of our roots. The others mage classes have better roots/mez/pet, tho this is only what I gather from reading these forums, until we apprantly get a root that never breaks in our 40s, or rarely <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />I must say wasps of darkness hit pretty [FAAR-NERFED!] hard, I could take on a lvl 33/34 mob without too much trouble but when taking on a 32 WoD, I usually end up with red on my HP bar, due to resists, roots breaking, etc - this was at level 31.<p>Message Edited by Graffix_75 on <span class=date_text>02-24-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:03 AM</span>

<DIV>What I noticed immediately after the update wasn't the increased damage-it was the increased amount of times I get interuppted while trying to cast. It's almost hysterical how easily I get stuffed while firing off a spell. It has made it even <U>tougher</U> for us to solo-if it was possible to make it any tougher. They decreased the chance for a spell to fizzle but I'd take that any day over what they done with the interuptions! bleh :manmad:</DIV>

What I noticed I would solo at 30.. I can still solo.. but they are gray..At 30 My wizzy did the same damage I do now at 39 with better spells..any other 38-40 wizzys feel same way?thanks

have to try it again.. but ball of flames hasnt hit for more than 620 ish.. it didnt go up enough compaired to the hp of the mobs.. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />but thanks.. guess if peole say it isnt broked.. ill shut up..thanks

<DIV>I just tried to kill a lvl 14 gray mob (for quest) and the root holds for 2 secs tops! I am lvl 22 and most mobs I go after are like this. Spells either resist, root doesn't hold or if it does it isnt' long enough. 2-3 hits and your dead from a mob which is understandable since we are not tanks but come on. Soloing is almost a waste of time. I was able to do solo pretty good before the infamous patch. I held out till the "BIG" patch last week and tried again ever since. I have to tell you it's not working out for the wiz class. I don't even have fun anymore with the character. Gonna hit the eraser button on this guy. I have lost patience. Bye Bye wizzies. They problem isn't so much that we can't solo green ^^ arrows, but the way the game is built. Tanks need to tank. Nothing new about that. But tanks need to tank againts group mobs, which, a green ^^, even a grey ^^ mob is about. So thier damage mitigation has to be good for that. It also means that outside a group, thier damage mitigation is at the same level, high. A tank needs to beable to tank without god like buffs from another class. Otherwise we get more like EQ1, where tanks couldn't survive without a cleric to buff and heal. My regulars include a Paladin and a Mystic or a templar. The paladin can heal himself well enough, with the mystic, his wards keeps him from taking damage, or when the templar is there, great heals. But most of his tanking ability comes from his armor and self buffs. So it's not so much that wizards suck against green ^^, it's that the way the game is built, any tank class has great damage mitigation in and out of group.

I remember logging on, thinking that Ball of Fire was gonna rock with a new timer and more damage, but that didnt happen. I may have seen a 20 point difference in the minimum damage, but that was all, if that. However, the stuns and ice spike got a nice increase, so that did help, but it did come with the cost of a weakened root. I can still solo mobs, just got 28 solo'ing orange and red sand turtles in EL, but all it takes is a few root or stun resists, and ya better be running to the bell.</DIV>

Try:</DIV> <DIV>1- BoFi (to pull from a distance)</DIV> <DIV>2- Root (It it breaks, you run or, blazing intimitdation w/ root again)</DIV> <DIV>3- Chilling Wind</DIV> <DIV>4- Icy Coil (maybe do a incinerate too if your feeling lucky)</DIV> <DIV>6- [HO] BoFi</DIV> <DIV>7- [HO] Ice Spike</DIV> <DIV>8- Stun</DIV> <DIV>9- Root</DIV> <DIV>10- BoFi</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Wasp should be dead around step 8. If by chance the mob breaks root at step 4+, I will stun and root again. If my stun isnt up and mob is running after me, I will seriously consider yelling and sprinting. Overall, maybe 9/10 times I kill the wasp, 1/10 times I run, 1/10 times close fight (30% or less health). Whats tuff is that the blazing intimidation stun takes a while to cast and the freeze stun is not useable. So its important to remember that when you first pull with BoFi that you far enuough away to get a root in w/o the mob hitting you. Once root stick you spend a second retreating to put enuff distance incase you need to cast another stun/root.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Jenjer</DIV>

Still no Immolation in this casting series, instead your main seems to be your outdated Ball of Fire. </P> <P>4. Horses, like all other movement buffs, do nothing unless you /yell for help. <DIV>You are correct about everything. Everyone knows that Warlocks are more effective and can solo and so can Necro's. Those two classes also outlast us. Our spells still get resisted and finding adepts is a nightmare. I am on Neriak and the adepts go for 5g and up. Master spells go for 35g and up. Not everyone has hours and hours to spend to make money to buy these spells. It is really ridiculous the amount of time sinks there are in this game. I appreciate content, but waiting 3 and 4 hours for a mob to pop....I am a working professional and I have kids..SOE needs to take these things into consideration.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Wizzards are not effective...I am level 37 and I plan on reaching 42 and then cancel my account.
