Why is ice spike still on your tool bar?I took it off as soon as I got BotT.And it's been my observation that Blaze(adept3) is resisted more then PP... so it was removed at 28.

<DIV>Also curious about the ice spike....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The only reason I have it on my 3rd spellbar is incase I have no other way to complete an HO.</DIV>

<DIV>I don't get that many resists from my older grey spells. I get more resists from app1 new spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Blaze is quick and still does damage.</DIV>

I still use lower spells when the group im in needs to quick something quickly. I cycle my debuffs, heavy damage, then BOTT, Ice Spike, Blaze, while I'm waiting for the timer to come up on BoF.

why cycle ice spike when you can chain cast blaze and bott without skipping a beat?

I keep grey's on my hotbar usually until something better comes along that is on the same timer, or until I get messages saying the mob is to high a level for the spell to work.

<DIV>I also keep greys on my hotbar such as blaze and ice spike, for one thing they are still more effective then an orange staff at dishing out damage and usualy they can still be cast even when you run out of power because they are so low scale by the time they grey out. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just like Rexlanath I only clear spells when they cannot hurt the mobs I'm usualy fighting or because another spell does the same effect just better.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Because the resists are screwed up in this game. I mean for God's sakes I get resited by GRAYS. Who are I don't know... 38 levels below me. Yeah okay...

Just debuff, BoF, BoT, Plasmatic, BoT, and repeat. Depending on how (im)patient you are and how much aggor you fear that can be adjusted but I can't see any reason of cycling in when you have bigger nukes available. For that matter, there's definitely no reason for holding off on your big nukes. Use those first (after debuffs) and get the timers going. In my opinion, a wizzy who isn't casting BoF as soon as it comes available is probably doing something wrong. <BR></P>

Quote: First, why do have so many of your spells still at app1?Only two are listed at aap1. And that is a mistake, as BoTT is really adpt 1, and I have not seen Plasmatic Pulse for sale in any form and can not make it myself yet. Since wizard spell drops stink, I've only gotten 3 spells from drops, all others I have bought or made.As for my line up. I like the dots. They stack, with three on, the mob is has it's elemental resistance and damage mitigation lowered, it's AGI and STA lowered (well a chance for this). The dots do, combined about 80-100 damage. My line up, as I said is to go from low to high. I have my reasons just like you have your own. It works for me.Though I did recently remove Ice Spike because it was the lowest damage spell and added Icy Coil.Quote: In my opinion, a wizzy who isn't casting BoF as soon as it comes available is probably doing something wrong.Seems to me that wizards think all spells should be Bigger and better then the last one. BoF isn't the beat all end all of spells. Sometimes quick medium damage spells are better.<p>Message Edited by Stavenham on <span class=date_text>01-25-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:16 AM</span>

<DIV>I am level 30 wiz and i have pretty much all adept 1 spells. I noticed that my breath of tyrant spell is getting resisted and ball of fire. But when ball of fire lands I get about 450-500 dps and breath of tyrant a little over 200 and then I use the gah spell (forgot the whole name ) its like blaze and that gets me abotu 180 dps. Then I have an ice spell that I use alos which is up at 400 with app1 I still ahevnt found adepts for it. </DIV>

I agree that it's good to get your dots on first, to increase their potential output, however the spell order below:My attack spell line up isFreezing whorl adt 1incinerate adt 1blaze adt 1plasmatic pulse app1breath of the tyrant app1ball of fire adt 3ice spike adt 1I'd recommend doing your biggest nuke with the highest timer directly after your dots.Freezing whorlincinerateBoFBoTTBlaze/PPBoTTBoF (if up, if not than PP again)Something like this would probably increase your dps by quite a bit. I always use statalyzer, combatstats monitor, or EQ Companion to make my lineup the most efficient for myself. I'd recommend that if you don't use it already. However, the above lineup is MAX DPS, not practical dps. A more practical lineup would include your essential hp to power buff which should be used as close to as when it pops as possible. These are two lineups (i think) i used during that lvl range.#1:FWBoFBoTTPainful Med (adept 3 btw)IncinerateBoTTBoFBoTTPainful Medrepeat pretty much cause debuff will probably be off by then.#2:FWBoFBoTTPainful MedBoTTIncinerateBoTTBoFBoTTpainful medrepeatI believe the second will net you better dps because of all the BoTT's, but it also depended on mood. I *THINK* that's what i used, but it was a bit ago, so I'm a little vague on it. Good luck!

Yeah, before I came back to this post I also moved BoFire up, so now its Dots BoFire, BoTT/Blaze till BoFire is back up. I still toss a stun in over a Blaze soe times. And Ice Coil is up.Even in the order I had it, BoFire sill hit with all the dots running strong.I group with a paladin, who is excellent, and the low to high damage was to help control aggro. Since we are even more paper thin, no need to [Removed for Content] a mob off.

I usually never get aggro unless I jump the gun on the tank <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. hmm.. i forgot you got icy coil, so yeah my lineup with that was usually:FWIcy CoilBoFBoTTPainful MedBoTTBlaze/PPBoFBoTTPainful Medrepeati'm really happy that both FW and Icy Coil stack, as I used them both in that same order all the way to lvl 39. Also got both of them to adept 3 because of it's importance in my lineup.

Sweet! After the big patch they made it so Discretionary flow and painful med were on same timer. Soon after that, they made it so painful med and the lvl 20 training spell on the same timer as well. I didn't realize that they took DF and PM off the same timer though. that's awesome! hehe, that makes my life a lot easier. thxs!

yeah, i'll have to get around to dmg parsing those on a ~lvl 30 mob. i'll also do some tests on the different hp to power spells.
