View Full Version : It feels like the parser is wrong, but it isn't.

<DIV>At the end of beta I decided I would play a wizard.  So I leveled my wizard to 24, outleveling my friends.  I started over to join them and played a monk to level 27.  While playing my wizard, I always felt like I was the big cheese of dps in the group.  Those big booms and such taking down the mobs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A few days ago I stumbled upon one of these posts saying wizards are being out damaged by many classes.  Remembering my time as a wizard I didn't think that was possible, hell it feels like I'm doing half the dps for the group.  So I loaded up the parser and played my monk and wizard and took a look at the numbers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I parsed for a few hours in two different groups.  With my monk, I parsed a 29 guardian, 26 berserker and a 24th paladin.  With my wizard i parsed a 28th ranger, 26th swashbuckler, and 26th berserker.  Plus a few others.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was shocked in the first group to find that the berserker and guardian could outdamage me, and usually did.  The biggest shock was the guardian parsing over 30 dps, while my monk was parsing low 20's.  In the wizard group I found that if I didn't get many resists I could push it and get in the 30's for dps, but on a bad run could also barely break 20 at times.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It was my impression that my wizard was doing incredible damage, but don't underestimate these other classes and those waves of small attacks.  There was many battles where every single person except for the healer was parsing in the 20's for dps.  These parses are incredibly close when one class is a dps and another is a tank or utility class, etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I did find the paladins and shadowknights did lag behind monks, guardians and berserkers for dps.  The guardian floored me though, I really didn't expect to see such high dps parses from this class.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sorry for the messy post, thought I would put down what I saw today with my parsing.  I know this is the mid 20's, but if it gets worse then this as people are reporting, I can understand wizard concerns.  My monks dps is very close to my wizards, and I would of never thought that was true, it's decieving.  My monk is very hard to kill, I often fight entire battles without getting hit even once.  I get safefall, can turn invis, feign death and heal myself in emergencies.  At first glance it does seem a little unbalanced.  While I'm at it, scouts don't do enough either, monk, guardians and berserkers are dangerously close to the dps of scouts.  Heck from what I can see, they outdamage scouts a little too often.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>One thing guardians and tanks in general have going for them is they never have to worry about over aggro.  They have to push damage and taunt throuhout the fight to keep agro, so they don't slack off like the other roles.  So they are generally the first to hit and continue hitting till the mob is dead.  Not that this fully explains their higher dps parses, but just a thought.</DIV>

<DIV>Sad but true my friend. You'd be shocked what DPS I can do with my cleric and HO's. Forget the "good" melle classes.</DIV>
