<DIV>As a level 27 Wizard, I do not feel the pinch of the spells not scaling. All these posts have me nervous, but I am having trouble seeing the overall picture.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Clearly there is some issue post level 35 with Wizard spells and apparently Warlock as well. I have read an immense number of posts relating to which class does the most DPS, but none that relates Wizard damage to the encounter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Could someone give me a rough idea of the amount of damage done to the MOBs in an encounter by an over-35 wizard? Specifically, if you are in a full, balanced, group, what percentage of the MOBs health is taken by your spells? At level 27 this seems to be 1/4 to 1/2 of the total, but this is more from 'feel' than parser. Does anyone have an estimate or actual data relating to the percentage of contribution?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does this percentage vary based on the number of MOBs in the encounter?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Please include Wizard level, rough group level range, Wizard spell stats (Adept, Mastery, etc), and rough MOB levels (ex: Yellow con Double up arrow Group).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It would sure help to get this into perspective. Other classes feel free to chime in with your contributions to damage in an encounter.</DIV>

<DIV>Well depends totaly on the group but.... Tanks our right behind wizards (by just afew dps sometimes even beat us if we get resisted) scouts are always a good 20-30 dps and the rest fall between these. of course healers don't do much dps but they aren't supposed to.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Enchanters and summoners actually outdamage wizards pretty often (summoners can get some really good dps with all the differant summons they get)</DIV>

<DIV>In short DPS, is damage as it relates to the encounter. If in a group of 5 one player does (these numbers are simplified for the purpose of this illustration) 20 DPS, 2 others 15 DPS, 1 10 DPS, and 1 40 DPS then those would be the percentages. Of course this is simple here because in my example the combined DPS is 100. It is just a matter of simple algebra , however, to do this with any DPS numbers. Add all the combined DPS numbers up for all members of a prospective group, and then create an equation that looks like so:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Some player in groups DPS X 100 divided by total DPS of group = percentage of some single players damage on an encounter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For all intents and purposes however, it is one and the same...more DPS, obvioulsy means a higher percentage of the encounters Health. With the exception being extremely short encounters where perhaps someone with a long recast time on a high damage skill might execel more than others...and vice versa to a lesser degree.</DIV> <P>Message Edited by falconpray on <SPAN class=date_text>01-17-2005</SPAN><SPAN class=time_text>09:47 AM</SPAN></P> <P>Message Edited by falconpray on <SPAN class=date_text>01-17-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>09:49 AM</SPAN></P> <P>Message Edited by falconpray on <SPAN class=date_text>01-17-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>09:50 AM</SPAN></P> <P>Message Edited by falconpray on <SPAN class=date_text>01-17-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>09:50 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by falconpray on <span class=date_text>01-17-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:51 AM</span>

Theres a great thread(9 pages) in the Spells, Abilities, and Combats arts forum called 'Sorcerer issues from a high level wizard' by Arkanjul that has most of the info you are looking for.

Most of the time in my experience, the scouts tend to get real lazy in a long drawn out group. While they can just target the main tank and hit auto attack and basically go afk, I have to kind of pay attention to the fight. Usually, at 37-38, I do a majority of the damage depending on how long the group has been up and how lazy the scouts are. If the scouts are fresh and invigorated and uses his/her skills more often, they can pretty much keep up with my damage. Monks, it depends on their weapons mainly I think. I've had some monks outdamage the group, and some not even come close. This is all pre-41 though. Once everyone reaches around 41-44ish and they can use FBSS, I'm sure it'll be a different story.
