Since the very first expac I have always geared up in the very beginning after release by spending my hard earned plat on Mastercrafted Armor and Jewelry. And it was always a viable way to get ready for the new content. Even more so when experimentation and refined rares were added.

Take for example the Glittervein Platemail set. When made using refined rares and fully experimented upon, the set was more than good enough to get a tank started on the new Advance Solo and Heroic content. (pre-resolve era of course).

Now that you have made the rares needed for KA Mastercrafted a super-rare / lottery system I am sure two things are going to happen.

1) There will not be a lot of the Master Crafted available until well after launch - and when it is people will already have gotten better gear from grinding.

2) The Master Crafted that is made will be silly expensive, and it won't sell as well as previous tiers have. People with a ton of plat will just wait for the SLR and buy the gear they want, why deal with gear you can't reforge when you can spend the same amount on gear you can.

So even though it is probably already to late for you to rethink this new system, I thought it was needed to be said that a lot of us think its a horrible idea.

I finally find my first shadewaewe bud to harvest today and when I gathered it Iacquired 1 leathery shadeleaf. A single item per harvest is really poor thing considering I'm trying to track another buf on last 10 minutes flying around all the twark zone. I can just imagine what will be on expansion release: all the server's crafter flying all around trying to arrive first on the numbered nodes up.

It could be possible at least rise up the number of nodes or the number of rare per node, please?

Any ETA yet on testing gathering goblin into gardening goblin side timeline? (so we can also test the numbers gobling will give us? eheh)

I leave my tracker up, so far I've found 2 in around 5 hours of playing today. I am going to be blunt and just say that in my opinion this is a horrible idea.

I love harvesting, I do it to relax. This is nothing but pure unadulterated stress that no one needs.

*edit* And so far I've only found them in the woods, they should be spread out everywhere across the map.

Not even 3 pulls from the node, but only 1? From a super rare node that gives a random rare?
I have to agree with Wurm. By the time anybody harvests enough for the set they want, they'll have access to better. And those who want to buy rather then harvest will be able to buy better for cheaper...

Gotta say the super scarceness of the node on top of the monumental rarity of the items for crafting is pretty bad....and given that from what I've seen the procs on weapons/shields/bucklers no dev strike outside of 2 handed weapons....think this xpacs crafting is in dire jeapordy and agree will not be made outside a scattered few.

But they'll put them in crates like the mercs are in. so you only have a "chance" at getting the rare you want, lol

That is why i suggested a couple of days ago to have the new node all over Kunark harvestable. The limitations would be Crafter Lvl 100, expansion purchased and few locations per zone only.

Wait.. what? Did I miss something? They don't come from normal nodes? Like they have for the past idk forever? It sounds like we have Essence of War rarity rares now?

unless these rares are used to make best in slot items there is NO reason for the node to be so Rare especially since it one node for how many types do you have a random chance of getting more the 7 on the bushes in ToT? you should make a whole new set of nodes and use the normal table to get the rares and take roots out of the fungal node in ToT.

Well someone made the mastercrafted BP on the first day and put it on the broker and I was wearing it all through beta, I didn't know it was mastercrafted (tags are missing on beta) until I found out I couldn't reforge it, but it was nice enough that I put it on "gear I want to have before doing heroics" spreadsheet. Now I'm not sure if it belongs on that list or not.

At least now (on beta) the MC gear is listed as legendary, which SHOULD be reforgable. If it's really nearly impossible to get, no better then AS gear and NOT reforgable... then it's expensive garbage Frown

No its not reforgable (I agree it should be, but its not) but you can buff the heck out of it with experimentation, not sure a lot of people are going to bother with trying to purify the rares though considering how hard they are to get.

Experimenting doesn't help when you've got too much reuse or casting speed..
Good to know that it is the ONLY legendary gear that can't be reforged... it should probably be marked as NOT REFORGABLE. I know I'd be... perturbed... on live if I'd spent time or plat to get a piece and found I was stuck with the stat mix..

Just checked in beta, the MC gear (at least the few cloaks I made to test) are all reforgable. They are NOT tagged as MASTERCRAFTED, however.

I have to say I dislike this new harvest rare system also. It makes my specialist harvester pretty useless now - not much point in having a better rare harvest chance, better bountiful harvest and better harvest skills if the node always produces one and only one rare. Now the problem will be just trying to jump on the nodes before someone else does, and stacking up the alts for one per day from the plant.

It seems I was partially mistaken - bountiful harvest does work on these nodes, so can get two rares from one node. Still not a fan of the system though.

if you have the harvesting goblin you can get a quest to turn him in for a potted plant and him as a merc. the potted plant allows you to place it in your home and harvest a rare every so often. i am not sure how often this will be live but i got 2 or 3 in a few hours playing session.

also i once when i logged in i found some nodes up around the same area. i got 4 in total. but what is a bummer is all to often they spawn inside the trees.

my plan is to have all of my tradeskillers turn their goblin in for the potted plant and merc. as a merc he is not all too bad. if i can get 9 potted plants that is 9 rares at a time which is far faster than fighting the masses for a node (usually in a tree too).
