Possible bugged merc: I am using Muroonae and put some gear on him, and started training him last week when beta opened. It said that it would take three days. I didn't really need him while I was running the crafting quest line, so I put him away until today. The gear I put on him is gone, and the training says "Click here to start training". When I click, it says I am already training this merc, but the first click of training should be completed by now (unless we have to leave him up and in use for the full three days). Either way, the gear I put on him is gone, and I can't train him. I've had lots of problems with quests and factions on this toon (Elinewt) bugging out, so I wonder if I have a bad copy or something.

edit: I'm going to leave my post here, but I did zone and the gear came back. It seems others have been having this problem and devs are aware of it, so I'm just adding my voice to the others now.

Some of the gear on mercs has stats that the merc cannot use. such stats are casting speed, reuse speed, recovery, etc. An example:

if we could get these taken off and put into other stats (not reforging) that would be great.

I noticed the merc gear had adornment/rune slots so I decided to try them out.

Interface feedback:
1. The apply adornment interface does not work on equiped merc items..the items need to be unequiped first. This is in contrast to the toons items which can be adorned without being unequiped.
2. The merc equipment slots need a popup to "inspect" the item and its adorns..just like regular equipent slots. And the popup should also include an "unequip" instead of the current which is scary (the wording doesn't preclude the item from evaporating).
3. The "equip" on a merc only item from inventory should actually equip the item on the merc. Or..it should not have the equip option.

Possible bug:
During my session with min/maxing adorns I was stationary for a long time and my merc was forcefully despawned. After that the mercs stats showed the naked amounts no matter what i equiped or unequiped. Zoning resolved the issue. Waiting did not resolve the issue. Canceling the merc and bringing it back also causes the issue. No clue whether the merc dying causes it too.

Purple Runes:
1. I only had a limited selection to play with: and they all seemed to insert successfully into the slots they said they would.
2. The rune count (eg. Sigil of Critical Power [6/8] was from my toon and not the merc).
3. I inserted an accuracy rune into an item and got Sigil of Accuracy [0/8] .. again from the main.
4. Only the very top levels of purple runes take effect..for example a crit bonus rune only gave 4% from the top and neglected the 10% from having one. So instead of 14 extra CB the merc only got 4%

White adorns in merc armor:
1. Some insert into the slot described on the adornment..and some do not. A DPS white rune inserted into chest. On the other hand an heighted power adornment which should have gone into the shoulder merc item did not.

White adorns in merc accolades:
1. If the adorn says charm they seem to insert into accolades. EXCEPT that you cannot equip the accolade.
2. A reuse adorn inserted and was equipable...but of course it did not do anything!
3. Obviously adorns need to be marked with an "accolade" equipment type.

Infusing:
Did not notice any problems with infusing.

Can you please add some more health to merc gear? They are still very low on base hitpoints. The gear I've equipped has one piece that increases health/hitpoints. They also seem to be light on ability mod, DPS and crit chance. As Pitta stated above the gear has many stats that the merc cant even use in its current form. Either that or the UI just needs to be updated to show their stats.

Mercenaries will not be able to benefit from set bonuses, from gear or adornments.

I was not able to reproduce this bug, if you can reproduce it please send include your character name (for copying if needed), the armor piece you were trying to adorn, and the adornment you were using.

A fix is in the works for this already. Any adornment that can be equipped on a charm can also go on the accolades.

Tried it again and got the same problem with the shoulder slot.

Character name "Chordite". the shoulder item is on the merc..the rune is somewhere in my inventory

The shoulder item is "Obulus Hireling's Shoulderguards"..a merc-only item. This item is already equipped with a purple rune for 15% AE Autoattack Chance. The shoulders have been infused.

The adornment is "Incandescent Adornment of Heightened Power (Superior)". The adorn is heirloom.

See that red text that says "BETA ONLY" that probably means the feature is for Beta Only even though the window can be downloaded by anyone. Just a hunch. The tooltip says "Do not use unless you are on Beta, you have been warned." Also, here is a quote from the pop-up that you are forced to see before you can download the file:

Oct 10

An update to the DarqUI Character (Persona) window is available with features that are specific to the Beta server. If you are not beta testing, you can safely avoid replacing the Character window until the Kunark Ascending expansion goes live.

Things are getting weird.

Earlier this morning I got on and the purple rune in that merc armor shoulder had disappeared. And when I tried to insert the white adorn it went in. So somebody had been working on the issue overnight. Later in the morning I noticed that the white adorn on the shoulder had disappeared. I did not report that because you guys could still be working on it.

Then I see your message and tried to reproduce the disappearing rune/adorn business to see if it is still an issue.

Procedure:

The shoulder item (above) has no runes (the purple one disappeared after being there a long time).
Insert a fresh (not heirloom) white adorn (above) and it goes in and stays.
Equip the shoulder and the white adorn is still there.
Remove the adorn and reinsert it ..the adorn is still there .. equip it .. and it is still there.
Repeat the above with a purple rune .. the rune stays.
Finally insert and equip the white adorn and a purple rune .. and then zone .. both adorns DISAPPEAR from that shoulder slot.

I have 2 other armor slots available and runes/adorns are not disappearing from them. So I am thinking the shoulder I am working with is somehow corrupt. I have not tried it with a tradeskill merc-only shoulder.

all white adorns on accolade gear have been vanishing when worn on mercs, and lose all infusions. basically, a merc being stored away and resummoned, or a merc dies and rehired, the accolade slots reset themself to how they were looted. am so happy i caught this during beta. people would be soooo mad if this happened during live Wink lol

also, i can't be sure but, normally, when i do something stupid such as jump or fall down a hole and die, in solo instances, i don't think the merc dies. i will go test this on live, but it's like the old saying "if someone jumps off a bridge...would you?" Wink the answer at KA solo instances is, yes, Clak'zakla jumps to his death stupidly, right with me Wink intended?

update: mercs dieing or being resummoned in any way also resets reforging. it resets everything on accolades other then popping them off and unattuning them.

We've located and fixed the issue with adorns and serialized data (infusing) vanishing from merc gear that is equipped on a merc when it is re summoned (from zoning or any other reason). Should be corrected on the next beta build.

I dropped the inquis merc that had gear on for the pally merc and when I brought the inquis back up his gear was gone. I relogged and the helm is back but nothing else.

Ok it's time to do some real testing with mercs. I think this is by far the coolest feature in this expansion; but only if it's useful. So here come the questions...

1. Can we get the new ranger put in the game so we can hire and test it? I seen Gninja hand out 20 (one to my alt). It would be nice to test it on my main and parse it.

2. Scenario #1 - Group can't fill their last slot. They pull out a merc. Is that merc contributing to the zone Resolve requirement.

3. Scenario #2 - Raid has 4 people take off for a holiday or sick. Will the merc(s) contribute to the zone Resolve requirement?

4. If in Scenario #2 the mercs are out and active, will their death contribute to death count fail conditions?

5. I think I know the answer to this but just in case... are mercs immune to AoE if indirect?

6. Can you give us a clicky to something to unlock all their training levels in beta? It would be nice to gauge their potential before this feature goes live.

7. Do any of our personal stats contribute to the merc (health, resists, etc.)?


There are a lot of questions in game about mercs. These seem to be the most common.

when i hover over a piece of gear in my inventory i was getting a compare window with my mercs gear and not what i have equipped on me.

Mercs are ignoring the level information on their gear.

I was testing some crafting stuff on a level 80 or so character earlier, and her merc was easily able to equip level 100 gear (tried with both some adventurer plate armor and some of the new crafted merc-only gear).

Not sure where this should go, but the damage merc abilities do does not match their tool tips.
Took the new ranger merc through 3 solo zones.
ACT shows 97% damage from auto-attack.
Example line:
(1477971093)[Mon Oct 31 23:31:33 2016] Claz'zakla's Searing Shot hits a Kly acolyte for a critical of 25853 heat damage.
The tool tip for that ability on the merc page shows a minimum of 179692 damage and that is not counting the 775% crit bonus the merc has.
Meanwhile, my weapon procs are doing over 50% of my DPS as a DPS class (Necromancer) but that is another issue...

I understand (and like) that the gear on mercs is not attuned so it can be moved around to the active merc.

Confirming that the merc training is not universal but that each individual merc will need to gain ranks to unlock more armor slots and unlike gear, each merc active will not share that "training" time? Thank you.

Hey Caith,

I put Zhugrus to sleep (Nov 9) to grab Raffik and run through his new line. Came back today (Nov 10) and grabbed Zhugrus again. All gear and Accolades are just gone. Not into inventory, not into overlfow. Just poofed.

Not sure if these are related, I can create a new thread if you like with screenshots and more details.

Hi Caith -

When switching between unlocked mercs, the stats decrease on my merc when I switch back to him, and adding/removing gear makes no difference. If I dismiss and re-hire the merc (from the merc window), the stats are then correct (but now you have to pay to re-summon him). Screenshots below, apologies for the length of the post because of them.

I started with this merc:

Then I switched to this merc:

When switching back to the original, his stats were lowered and adding/removing gear made no change, and his Offense numbers are now the same as the prior merc:

Dismissing him and bringing him back puts his stats back where they should be, and now removing/adding gear affects his stats as it should:

There needs to be a way to filter OUT merc-only gear on the broker. Make it level 99, remove a stat that other gear has, something
