Welcome to Kunark Ascending tradeskills!

As we enter beta, you'll have access to class recipes, and most of the tradeskill questline, but not the final ending, which will follow a little later (as soon as possible!) Completion of this final tradeskill quest will grant you the tradeskill beta testing achievement.

The tradeskill questline in this expansion requires you to have completed the tradeskill signature quest from expansion 12, "What Lies Beneath". So, if you haven't quite finished that yet on live, you might want to get started on that! Pro-tip: you may also find it handy to learn to speak goblin, if you don't already. But fear not, if you don't want to kill goblins, there will be an alternate way once you get to Kunark, it will just take more time.

On beta server, we can shortcut that - just talk to Oliver, the friendly tradeskill beta buffer you'll find on the Isle of Mara as well as in the entrance hall in Maldura. He can buff you to level 100, give you some useful stuff, and ensure you've completed "What Lies Beneath" and are ready to start.

In Terrors of Thalumbra, you met Brytthel and the dhalgar and gneblin residents of the subterranean city of Maldura. This expansion's questline starts with an urgent request for help from Brytthel once again. You'll receive in-game mail offering you the quest, or you can just talk to Brytthel directly up in the Queen's area of Maldura. She'll explain what's up and get you started. Follow the questline to find your way to Kunark, meet some new folks you'll be helping, and eventually unlock your new recipe books.

Check back on these forums for release notes as we update beta, and any new information (such as when additional tradeskill quests are added). No doubt there will also be useful information appearing on EQ2Traders, as always. Thanks for joining the beta, and enjoy the new content!

Highlights of tradeskill content in Kunark Ascending:
  • Essentials and Advanced recipes for all 9 primary tradeskill classes
  • All crafting classes can unlock recipes to make equipment for mercenaries, reconstructed infusers, and spirit stones
  • Scholars make spellscrolls for the new Ascension classes: sages make etherealist and elementalist spells, jewelers make geomancy spells, and alchemists make thaumaturgist spells.
  • Tons of new quests - 45 so far and that's not counting repeatable missions
  • New signature questline, which will reward you with (among other things) a new pretty thing to wear - Gnobrin has outdone himself!
  • New factions to win the trust of, including some that are exclusive to crafters
  • [still to come, later in beta] Optional side mini questline will allow you to convert your gathering goblin to a gardening goblin, who will help you grow rare harvests from Obulus Frontier in your home.
  • There are no new common harvests; instead, Obulus Frontier has a single rare harvest node, the shadeweave plant. When you see this plant, you know you'll get a rare!

PRO TIP: GETTING TO OBULUS FRONTIER

The questline will take you to the Obulus Frontier zone the first time, and when you complete Glibnox's fifth quest "Search and Rescue" you will get a teleport totem that will take you directly back to Twark.

Until then, you may find it more convenient to stay in the zone until you have started "Search and Rescue" (you do need to leave the zone to complete this quest). This would mean not finishing Taelonar's quest (which asks you to go to Fens of Nathsar) and avoiding the guards in the elf city area, who will forcibly boot you out.

This isn't required, there is a portal that will send you back on the Halas docks (and ultimately there will be overland zone connections from other "old" Kunark zones), but letting you know in case you hate running around trying to find your way back. Smile
