Serious Question, and it's on live and not just beta.

It seems like poor design to make me choose between an item that is better in ALL OTHER stats, except resolve.

An item with higher 'resolve' should automatically include higher other stats.

So then I have to get the resolve to 'survive', but then be 'worse' at my character due to some arbitrary stat.

I just don't see why you would do this to players.

You are making your character 'worse' by doing less damage to the mob and taking more damage?

Resolve seems to me to be the mechanic that forces a gear reset while we remain at level 100. It is also a way to gate heroic and raid encounters to make the expansion content last longer due to farming gear.

It does seem however we have little choice in the matter.

So there's going to be a curve in gear progression. You start off by removing some of your current raid gear and replacing it with resolve. Mainly the gloves and hands (largest increase of resolve). Then you do heroic and start to return to your current potency. Then raid gear will increase your current potency substantially.

1. Do the ascension masters and earn the mythical earring. It's 20 resolve and 1300 potency.
2. Grind heroic currency and do the weekly and daily quests. That yields a best in slot finger/ring.
3. Complete 30 quests, the sig line and frilik tide ship. Best in slot offhand.
4. Tradeskill daily and weekly currency yields best in slot wrist.

All of the above have similar stats and will put you where you were when KA launches. Plus a substantial increase to your resolve stat. As far as crit bonus and ability mod goes, you'll see a huge increase from the new armor and tradeskiller crafted purple adorns. Don't forget, activating your Ascension increases your base potency substantially. In the end, all stats will be much higher than they were in ToT.

I upped all my stats on Beta... ALL OF THEM including resolve. So if you didn't, you are doing something wrong.

the stats are alright. dual handed mage/priest??? but they don't dual wield at all.....and the ability on that is awful...going from 7 or 8 mil to 20k?? that's terrible and not progressive at all.

If you mean Devastation Strike with 20K? That's the base before your other stats apply and it can crit so it does more damage than the old version.

What are 'priest skills'? Or do you mean spell skills?
On my warden I'm more interested in melee skills then spell skills...
Most of the gear in the beta is a bit.. odd.. in it's stat mix. If it's got flurry, it's got spell skills, if it's got double-cast, it's got melee skills. So if you're a scout or melee priest, you have to choose between flurry and melee skills.. because double cast and spell skills are useless for combat arts.

Thanks for the info. Last question..do you happen to know if the earring is a "one and done" type of event or will there be corresponding rewards for each ascension leveled? If it is only one it becomes rather critical to choose your first ascension class wisely

Zues,
I've done the sig line and tradeskill line in beta, but not sure what you mean about item 1. above.
Is that a questline I've missed or do you mean get ascension spells to masters for the reward?

Once you've completed the triumph you will get a mail saying that you can head to My Corona and upgrade your weapon. It's the faction merchant.
